Councillor Brian Coleman - The Free Dinner register

I happened to be looking at the Gifts & Hospitality register for the London Assembly. There are 25 members. Any gifts or hospitality received from any person which has an estimated value of £25 or more is registered. This is available at the London Assembly website (click HERE)

I was interested to see that of the 311 entries for all the members, just under a quarter were made by one member. You guessed it - our very own Brian Coleman. Here's the list and who's been treating him. For a man on £85,000 a year (paid by us), thats rather a lot of free dinners !!!! There are many things I could say about the list, but I rather think it speaks for itself. I've listed the date, detail and provider as per the register. You can have a look at the other members entries as well.

I would suggest that with all those nice free dinners and nice drinks, maybe one of his rich friends may wish to donate him a cholesterol check and a liver function test.

  1. "05-Jul-08 - Ashmole School Grand Ball, Mr Jeff Kaye, Chairman of the governors, Ashmole school"

As a former governor and pupil, just what on earth is state funded Ashmole School doing offering, and Brian Coleman doing accepting, a free 'Grand Ball' ticket for what was undoubtedly a fundraiser?

Why did you not politely refuse or alternatively demand to pay, Brian? This is a bit sick, in my opinion.

  2. Rog T - thank you. This is exactly the kind of expose that makes blogging so worthwhile.

What continues to raise an eyebrow for me is that my anti-Coleman campaign requires neither clever words nor imagery, nor invective, nor satire.

Simple matter-of-factness is quite sufficient every time when it comes to the loathsome Mr Toad.

Brian Coleman (aka Mr Toad) has GOT to go!:

  3. I would like to share a few things about Coleman. Coleman's politics and style led him to be one of Mayor of London Ken Livingstone's principal critics, publicly falling out with the Mayor over the London Borough of Barnet's resurfacing policy. Coleman takes great pride in his campaign to re-open Partingdale Lane, a narrow country road with no pavement, between Mill Hill and Woodside Park in London.

  4. I have uncovered shocking video evidence of a free feed that Coleman has failed to declare.

And I've posted it up at:

  6. Not living in Barnet I've not kept up with the life of Brian, but I've just remembered that during the dispute over pay and conditions of London Underground cleaners someone mentioned they had similar problems in London Fire Brigade, trying to persuade Brian Coleman that fire station cleaners ought to receive a living wage.
Apparently Cllr.Coleman thought the idea was "ridiculous".
The London Living Wage is hardly extravagant, only a couple of quid above the minimum, and even Boris
thinks it is reasonable for council and contract staff. But not so Brian, it seems. Perhaps he imagines that low paid workers get as many free dinners as he does.
