Brian Coleman - The Pork Pie at the Bahmitzvah ????
If you want a good laugh before Christmas, check the Finchley Conservatives photo gallery of Mike Freer Pics (click HERE). There are many things made me chuckle, but the picture above is the best one. This was taken at a meeting of Tories with local Orthodox Rabbi's. Notice the body language of the Rabbi's with Brian Coleman. They clearly stuck him on the end and are leaning away from him as much as they can. They also seem to be giving Mike as wide a berth as possible. They are clearly chuffed to bits to have such esteemed visitors !!!!!
I think what is more worrying is that the entire photo gallery on the Finchley Conservatives website comprises pictures of Mike Freer. Yes he is the parliamentary candidate, but there are plenty of ward councillors in Fichley whose activities should also be publicised.
ReplyDeleteThis is the typical behaviour of a dictator. Everywhere we go there must be photos of our glorious leader. How long before we get a statue?
David,
ReplyDeleteWhat really got me was the website title was "Mike Freer". It doesn't give a good impression of the party work, does it?
I find this post totally anti Semitic, and I ask that you take it down.
ReplyDeleteThe undertones of this post are horrible.
Please remove this now.
Dear North London,
ReplyDeleteGiven that David Miller is Jewish, I would have expected him to have been straight on the phone to me should this conclusion have been drawn. If you send me an email via the WWW.MILLHILLMUSIC.CO.UK site with your details so we can discuss your concerns, I will remove the post if you are a genuine person with genuine concerns. Send me your phone details or email.
I did not see anything in this article which I considered to be anti Semitic. It was a photograph with several prominent Jewish people who appeared to be leaning away from Brian Coleman. I am sure they were not leaning away - it just appeared from the camera angle that they were.
ReplyDeleteBrian Coleman’s support for the Jewish community is genuine and he is very popular for it.
The idea that Rog is implying that all Jewish people are homophobic is frankly preposterous. No doubt some people are - as are some ignorant people of other religious backgrounds - but there is absolutely nothing in this article which suggests that people are avoiding Brian because of his sexuality. North London you are seeing anti Semitism and homophobia where none exists.
In my opinion, this picture was no different to the many photos which are broadcast on Have I Got News For You which have a humorous caption added.
Dear North London,
ReplyDeleteYour claim is outrageous and clear nonsense. The rabbi's wouldn't have allowed them through the door if that was true. I suspect that, rather like me, if they have any reservations, it is not because of what you do behind closed doors.
I suspect that, as with the vast majority of Barnet, they would be embarrassed about the many failures of the Freer regime and the many extravigances of Brian Coleman.
I am perplexed as to why you bring the sexuality of the two men into the debate. I certainly didn't and I certainly wouldn't. As I said, more than happy to discuss and remove if you are a genuine person with a genuine concern. If you are really upset you will make contact. This looks to me as if it is shenanigans from a well known person within the Barnet political scene.
Good try North London - but this post is as as anti-Semitic as bagels and as homophobic as 30 Old Compton Street.
ReplyDeleteThis, clearly, is strictly an anti-Coleman post - one of many such posts on this fine blog.
And why are those Rabbis displaying such wisdom in their body language. Perhaps its because of Mr Toad's frequent and ill-judged outbursts. Perhaps they are fans of the Olympics, or the environment, or traffic calming. Perhaps its because of his massive cost to the tax-payer and his all-round, habitual freeloading. Perhaps its because he's a pompous, self-publicising pipsqueak. Whatever the reason, I think Rog T's flagging up their good sense can hardly be due to anti-Semitism.
Brian Coleman (aka Mr Toad) has GOT to go!:

And Rog, don't be perplexed.
ReplyDeleteTo have an argument about something which doesn't even exist on here (homophobia and anti-Semitism)rather than to debate the merits (or otherwise) of the subject of your post - Brian Coleman - is a classic straw man tactic - and its one that Coleman has employed in the past too:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Like the phone call you got a while back, its another tactic designed to put you off saying what you think.
Sad.
Uh-oh!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Rabbis are not the only ones
Seems to me that "North London" rather spectacularly missed the point I was making (probably quite deliberately as "Mr Toad" suggests).
ReplyDeleteIf I were a Rabbi (or any other religious figure) I would have big reservations about my picture being used to promote a specific candidate or party in this way.
It is one thing to have the picture on the wall or in an office, but this is on a candidates website. I am sure that any unease on the part of the Rabbi's was probably quite sensibly not wanting to be too closely associated with a specific party in this way.
Personally, I like my religious leaders to keep a respectful distance from politicians. I certainly wouldn't want any minority to be perceived as being favoured over another grouping.
Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms North London,
ReplyDeleteWaldorf and I were bemused beyond belief about your flibbergibberty claims.
Are you really suggesting that the same group of respected community leaders would not show the feelings at Michael Whitney Freer who is similarly flamboyant in discussing his private matters in public ?
They would have more reason to be at odds with Michael Whitney Freer as he has, so we are told, entered into a Civil Partnership which many in religious circles see as 'undermining marriage'. So, so much for that theory - Mr North London.
RogT is right to make political comment and satire. Long may he go on.
Off for some port.

This thread is very amusing!
ReplyDeleteI must say that its very good top see Statler and Waldorf back. There's been a little heckling going on lately, but not of the calibre we've come to enjoy from Mssrs S & W.
