It merely struck me that for several weeks the 'leadership' must have been shuffling between two things: firstly considering budgets for cuts, job losses and service reductions, and then jollying themselves up with their allowances draft reports. "Coming along nicely, isn't it, Brian - tee, hee, HEE."
They can never recover from this, can they? And yet we are stuck with them for four years (barring a freak accident where a 326 bus crashes into the Town Hall, sparing only the bless-ed Kate Salinger and the opposition.
The conservativehome site has been discussing the disadvantages of a system of electing one-third of councillors every year, but at least the people of Barnet would get a say earlier than 2014.
I wish any alternative leadership well, but it will have to be drawn from the useless cowards who failed to stand up to the leadership last Tuesday.
