The Barnet Council / Metpro scandal gets weirder by the minute. The Hendon Times reports that the Council says the MetPro footage has been destroyed.

They claim to have contacted Metpro when they found out covert and "unauthorised" videoing had taken place and destroyed it. A few questions (I know a little about videoing & editing)
a) How do they know all copies have been destroyed.
b) Have they destruction records from a recognised company
c) How long between the realisation that "unauthorised" videoing and the Council sacking Metpro.
All of this correspondence needs to be in the Public domain. It is quite clear that an Independent public enquiry is the only credible way forward. I note that Barnet have awarded the contract to Blue9. I wonder what sort of tendering process took place for this contract? Perhaps Leader of the Council Lynne Hillan or CEO Nick Walkley would like to tell us?

I think you have hit the nail on the head. There is also a question should anyone ask Barnet Council, under the Data Protection Act for the footage of them.
ReplyDeleteYou can try to contact Lynne Hillan but there are increasing concerns about what is up with her as she seems to be incommunicado, having failed to turn up to the Cabinet Meeting last week. Some suggest she has not been on 'duty' for a month now...
DH: I trust she will adjust her allowance as appropriate, then. We could be saving some money!
ReplyDeleteCouncillorWatch: Brian was apparently at the North London Waste Authority today, and allegedly sneered at Friern Barnet residents, who were merely complaining about their new Pinkham Way site. He gets about, doesn't he?
how I laughed when I saw this pop up on the Times this evening: this footage would be the footage that we were told doesn't exist, would it? I believe that the ICO are aware of these allegations.
ReplyDeleteHow many of MetPro are entitled to be transferred to Blue 9 under TUPE?
