Your Choice Barnet Week - Week 2

Last week, the Barnet Eye asked for blogs written by people affected by the botched outsourcing of Your Choice Barnet. We have been inundated with responses. So much so that we've decided to extend YCB week for another week. It is clear to the Barnet Eye that there is huge public concern, a concern completely ignored by our elected representatives. In fact there was even a letter from Councillor Maureen Braun defending the botched outsourcing and repeating many of the misconceptions which have been allowed to pass unchallenged, such as the scheme is necessitated by direct payments.

The Barnet Eye is proud of many things we've achieved, but most of all we are proud of the number of Guest bloggers we have attracted, many of whom have never written anything for publication before. The Barnet Eye is unique in Barnet for regularly featuring guest bloggers and we are proud that many of these blogs are amongst the most read. One blog, by Defend Council Housing has had over 27,000 direct views, which is an incredible number of reads.

Last week we published five guest blogs. Three were by people who have not written blogs before. These attracted a huge number of readers. Sadly the local press has not bothered to cover these stories or pick up on the public interest. We will be putting out a press release this week, to try and make them see the error of their ways. It is not too late to participate in Your Choice Barnet week, so if you have a story, please submit it for publication.
