Vote Tory get UKIP !

Word reaches the Barnet Eye that in the event of a strong UKIP showing in couuncil elections in May up to seven councillors are likely to defect to UKIP and form a group. Seven is apparently the magic number where they will get our cash for a political assistant. We understand that the figures are currently rather marginal and see this as the only way to get proomotion. We also understand that UKIP are unlikely to run candidates in there wards. Yet another headache for Richard C.

  1. If this is true it lends credence to the claim, many of our local politicians particularly those conservatives that blindly supported the One Bbarnet Programme without having read the contract. Have no interest in Barnet residents, and are only in local politics for the perks.

  2. Interesting to see what happens at the general election given the bad blood between AML and Matthew Offord!

  3. Thats such complete bullshit it's ridiculous. Normally the stuff on here is quite reasonable but this just screams unsubstantiated rumour that was dreamed up to cause problems.

  4. "Unsubstantiated rumour" it may be, but acnnot work out who it benefits.

Of course, now-Essex-lad DCMD wants to win his bet, that Richard Cornelius will not still lead the Conservative Group by election time, but that can't be it.

  5. Unsubstantiated rumour bullshit and misinformation having been and continues to be a feature of our incumbent council led by Cornelius. It is a bit rich for an apparent Cornelius supporter, to complain of others being guilty of " unsubstantiated rumour" .

  7. I never said that you'd invented the rumour and I doubt you would but there are plenty of other people in Barnet who would happily pull this out of their arse. As for Cornelius I reckon he won't last much past the elections even if the conservatives do win the election whether these defections happen or not.

  8. Lets just say this didn't come from a single source. But hey ho, it is always possible that some people are indulging in Mourinho like mind games (not that I suspected they have that in them).

  9. Bullshit unsubstantiated rumour call it what you wish, but the fact remains many people like myself have no doubt in their minds,

Many of our councillors are only in it for the perks, the fact so many supported the OBP without having any idea of the potential downside impacts of the contract on the residents they are supposed to protect supports that claim.

Personally I see little difference between UKIP and the incumbent Tories, in fact I have personally received an apology a display of integrity and genuine concern for the utterances of a member of his party, who was also at the time a member of the Tory party. A man incidentaly I abused in public on this point.none other than our local UKIP candidate . But no such condemnation from our local Tories, so on a personal note and on this particular point UKIP get my vote.
