What does the Greek bailout mean to Barnet

The London Borough of Barnet has strong links with Greece. Many local people have family ties. In the event of a Grexit and economic collapse, it is fair to say that Barnet is likely to be one of the most severely impacted areas of the UK. Family members may face calls for financial assistance and help with welfare. The Barnet Eye has asked several councillors what contingency plans the Council is making to assist. I was surprised to receive a bemused look to this question. One councillor suggested that The problems of Greece are nothing to do with Barnet Council. I think this attitude sets a dangerius precident. Given the many large communities with ties to countries such as Israel and Ireland, surely we do not want to become an 'I'm all right Jack' borough when members of oir community have families in diistress.
