The 2016 Barnet Council governance project - No 11 Support for the UK music industry in Barnet

Today we look at support for music and live musicians in Barnet. This was meant to be number 24 in the series, but given the ad passing of David Bowie today, it seemed a more fitting day.

Subject: Freedom of Information request - Support for the UK music industry in Barnet

Dear FoI Barnet,

Creative industries make a huge contribution to the UK economy (approx. £8 billion in 2014). Music is a major contributor to this total. London is the world capital of Live music, with the O2 in Greenwich being the most successful music venue in the world. As Barnet is the largest London Borough in terms of population, please can you provided details as follows

a)      Money spent by the council by ward promoting live music.
b)      Money spent by the council by ward spent on promoting youth music, outside of schools.
c)       Money spent by the council by ward on providing free music tuition, outside of school hours.
d)      Number of music related venues, by ward, receiving financial support from Barnet Council.

Many thanks

Regards
Roger Tichborne
