The 2016 Barnet Council governance project - No 9 Bloggers watching Councillors

Following on from Brian Colemans claim that bloggers were watching him everywhere he went and the CEO of Barnet told him this, we thought we'd see if there was any substance in this claim

Subject: Freedom of Information request - Advice from CEO of Barnet regarding blogger activities

Dear FoI Barnet,

Former Mayor of Barnet and Councillor Brian Coleman asserted in this weeks Camden New Journal that

“The blogs in Barnet seemed to have shot their load, though. They got a bit carried away with themselves but it was all very nasty. I was warned by the chief executive of Barnet Council no less that I was being watched everywhere I went.”

Please provide any evidence Barnet Council may have to support or deny this assertation. Specifically, has any senior council officer issued advice to any councillors regarding bloggers watching councillors. Have any briefing papers been produced on this subject. Do the council have any evidence that bloggers have been carrying out surveillance on councillors, outside of council buildings. Please provide any emails detailing such warnings or practices. If necessary redact names for privacy

Many thanks

Regards
Roger Tichborne
