The Mill Hill Community will be holding a memorial event for Mr Vijay Patel RIP at The Sacred Heart Church on Saturday February 10th. The church, which is the closest community space to the Rota Express shop, will host the event which will officially commence at 8pm, however the doors will be open from 7pm for people to gather. F
Fr Michael, the Sacred Heart Parish Priest, said "It is appropriate for the church to host the event as Mr Patel was our neighbour, the memorial service will cross community event, with all welcome. to join us to remember a great friend. The most appropriate format would be for faith leaders from our local communities to say a few short prayers and invite people from the community to contribute suitable poems and other readings. "
We will also invite people to bring food from their respective communities, to share food and meet as one community. As various groups have varying degrees of food hygiene rules, we will ask people to be respectful and bring appropriate finger food. So we will have separate tables for kosher, Halal, vegetarian food etc.
We envisage that the "service" element will be no more than 30 minutes with about an hour for people to mingle and share food and refreshments. We will also have some performances from local artists and choirs this will be light acoustic music.
Members of the public will also be able to make donations for the Patel family by the entrance to the hall. We are still in the process of sorting out arrangements for the evening. - Click here if you can help
There is a crowdfunding page set up to receive donations for the family - click here for details
The Mill Hill Shul has also has organised a donations page the response to both has been truly amazing.
There is also a candlelit Vigil, to show support for the family this Saturday 13th Jan at 7pm outside the shop at 58 The Broadway, London NW7 3TE
