1. We start with these brilliant and rather artful photographs of Mill Hill Broadway Bus station. It is polluted, smelly and unkempt, but as a long standing Mill Hillian, I love it. Mill Hill has many interesting bridges, but this is the first amongst them
2. And we also rather like this shot of Mill Hill East station. Did you know Mill Hill East was originally simply called Mill Hill Station?Mill Hill Viaduct - Bus Concourse at Mill Hill Broadway Station...#station #london #MillHill #bus #concourse #train #terminus #bridge #concrete #carpark #streetphotography #places #waiting #lighting #lines #M1 #viaduct pic.twitter.com/zKEBxYk068— 𝔹𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕠 (@Billo20Four7) June 27, 2020
3. This story caught my eye, as these buildings used to be Orange Hill School, where I finished my education. It is on Orange Hill Road in Edgware. Even when I was there between 1978 and 1981, the school was a bit run down, but the education was first class. I do hope that the school can overcome its problems. Whilst it is an old and ugly building, I have very fond memories of my time there.Mill Hill East is always rather quiet at this time of night. pic.twitter.com/sn8SQynWn9— Matt Haywood (@TubeDrivingGod) June 25, 2020
4. For all our cyclist friends. There was an interesting debate about safe cycling on the A5. This post was interesting and informativeInspectors labelled the Edgware-based grammar school 'unhygienic and unsafe' and said pupils were 'at risk of harm' in a damning report by the education body https://t.co/rRubHXwgzX— Jewish News (@JewishNewsUK) June 24, 2020
5. This is a very nice tweet from Hendon!I used to cycle from Colindale before I moved. It is horrific. The detour below gets you off before staples corner (scary!) and then you parallel Edgware road down into West Hampstead on more friendly streets. Crossing the North circular is less scary this way but still not great pic.twitter.com/O53hvfCBnT— TheScientificDiabetic 🔬 🇮🇪 (@TheScientificD1) June 23, 2020
6.There were many nice tweets about the newly painted rail bridge in Cricklewood. This was my favourite! I have the utmost admiration for how the Cricklewood community have worked to transform their neighbourhood for the betterWest Hendon Estate NW9, grassland... pic.twitter.com/uvX1Qe4zKC— Jon Cooper (@jon_cooper75) June 26, 2020
7. I rather enjoyed this tweet. Do you know what they are?Joy to see the brilliant makeover for the railway bridge in Cricklewood this morning. Many thanks to those who made it happen. @NW2_RA @anne_clarke @CrickleBen pic.twitter.com/JShrrTfoHY— Susie Diamond (@InklingLLP) June 27, 2020
8. He's one of our own. Born in East Finchley. He even shares a birthday with my missus. Sadly missed (especially by the Missus who loved him). His Dad ran a very good steak house in Edgware to boot and he did voluntary work at a homeless daycentre where I volunteer, so I know first hand he was a worker as well as a superstar.Ward walking today in Childs Hill. I had the clocks set to the correct time on the Golders Green war memorial and in the Cricklewood Town Centre in February, but they are both wrong again.— Anne Clarke (@anne_clarke) June 25, 2020
There are two clocks with the correct time in Childs Hill. Do you know what they are? pic.twitter.com/vrOsQu3KgG
9. As regular readers will know, Mr Mark Amies is our local pub champion. We support his work. This is a sad couplet of tweetsOn this day in 1963, George Michael was born in East Finchley, London. pic.twitter.com/50Dq8XUJ4Z— Rock N Roll Pictures (@RockNRollPics) June 25, 2020
10. Mill Hill has many links with some of the UK's greatest artists. But did you know Inmelda May used to sing in the choir at The Sacred Heart Church?I went past today and its boarded up. I fear it's not long for this world. pic.twitter.com/tKT6TgTn5F— NW London TimeMachine (@time_nw) June 24, 2020
Great to see our good friend @ImeldaOfficial get a two pager in the @Daily_Express - one of her first recordings was the @millhilljazz sampler cd recorded in studio 1! pic.twitter.com/8IViHxfk4A
