  1. Roger, I am sure you have seen it already but today the council have released a paper (delegates power report) showing that they are writing off £203,082.83 of over paid housing benefit they have failed to recover. It add to your long list of council **** ups.

  3. Housing Benefit eh, Well that is an issue for the Department for Work & Pensions Minister to ask why the local authority who administer housing benefit,(wrong body to do so in my opinion) is writing off taxpayers money.

The administration of HB should have remained with what is now the DWP. However when much of it is outsourced to 3rd party employess in Belfast offices of overseas firms, worse could hapopen

  4. Duncan,
I have not seen any of the Labour and LibDem Councillors signatures to Johhny on the Web's ipetition.I really do wonder why?

  5. I see the Brent Cross Coalition has put a copy of the Cabinet's 'AllowanceGate' comments on its web site, taken from the Times's front page.

I am keeping a printout for future reference!

I suppose it divides the members of the Cabinet into two groups:

The GREEDY - justifying the rises, and made up of the usual suspects, and

The REHABILITATABLE - keeping out of the way of the press, or in the case of Sachin Rajput, saying something completely meaningless.

I had to check the spelling of that long word above; it means "to restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education." Yes, that's about right - let's educate them. The Conservative Party manifesto and Coalition's policy guidelines would not be bad places to start.

I've also still not heard Theresa Villiers's OPINIONS on 'AllowanceGate'. Her 'statement' says nothing at all.

I suspect they haven't done so as it would potentially tie their hands at council meetings as they would have to declare a prejudicial interest
