Obituary for "King" Coleman

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/sep/14/king-coleman-obituary

A sad loss

Mike Freer MP - No Boozers, No brewery and no booze up !!!!

I promised my regular readers a chuckle at the expense of Mike Freer, MP for Finchley and Golders Green. Now regular readers will know that Mike's ability to organise things properly are legendary. A previous example of his amazing talent for this was seen when he organised a leader listens "meet the public" session in Golders Green Sainsburys on a Saturday morning (for those readers not familiar with the area, Golders Green has a strong Jewish community who would all be at prayer then).

If you are ever tasked with organising the cheapest booze up in a brewery ever, ask Mike Freer to organise it and bring all his friends. The latest example of his unique skill in this respect was his attempt to launch an "Parliamentary all party group on London". Mike booked the room, but only two people turned up, both Labour supporters - Lord Toby Harris and Jim Fitzpatrick MP. After a while, each assuming the other had booked the rather embarrassing event, they realised that it must have been someone else, who had done a runner when no one turned up. Enquiries showed that it was none other than beloved Michael Whitney Freer MP.

Lord Harris has this to say :-

Clearly, the Coalition Government does not regard London as important.  No Minister has been designated as Minister for London -despite the practice of having a Minister for London pre-dating the last Labour Government. Maybe Mike Freer thought this deficit might be – in part – rectified by setting up an All-Party Group, but his enthusiam didn’t seem to extend beyond booking a room.  Bit pathetic really.
Read the whole sorry story here. For those of us who have followed Mr Freer's career, perhaps the only surprise is the fact he actually managed to book the room. I suppose that is progress of sorts for Mike.

Barnet Council Update : Hillan sharpens the knife

Following the failed leadership putsch in the Barnet Tories, Lynne Hillan is urgently planning a cabinet reshuffle. Lets just say that certain characters have, shall we say, fallen from grace, whilst others need a payback. Toady councillors such as Graham "Kate Salinger is my hero" Old, who showed absolutely no backbone and toadily supported Hillan all the way, despite pretending to be disgusted with her.

Word on the street is that John Marshall, as chief whip, is rather keen to take Saichin Rajput down a peg, as he's none to keen on his "style". Sadly I predict that our fave Barnet Tory Twat, Little Bobby Goatsbum - Sorry Robert Ramsbottom looks set to stay.

I hear Andrew Harper has a few interesting views on a new job for Brian Coleman, but I've been sworn to secrecy on that.

Proof that the Barnet Conservatives really are rubbish !

I thought I'd visit the Barnet Conservatives website, just to see what they are up to *OFFICIALLY*

Check it out for yourself :-

http://barnetconservatives.com/

Impressive? I don't blame them, I'd be embarrassed as well - Ha Ha Ha

We've also obtained this picture, taken illegally of the Barnet Conservative Councillors voting for Lynne Hillan in the confidence debate last night.

The short one with the rather long arms is Robert Rams. Mrs Angry reports on her blog that when Hillan won the vote, she was kissed by Andrew Harper. Given his plans for her, do you think he paid himself 30 pieces of silver?

As for Brian Coleman, didn't he realise that it has to be a beautiful princess for the toad transformation business to work.

Old Toady has been having a bad day all round - seems like he's taken another hefty whack in the pocket, courtesy of Boris. This on top of the sack as Barnet Tory Chief whip.

And the funniest news on the Tory front is about Mike Freer MP. I'm afraid you'll have to wait for that one though. To much richness in one day causes indigestion

Save Barnet's Libraries - Book collection for Councillor Robert Rams

It seems that as our local Tories all lack the nuts to stop this nonsense, it's down to you and me dear citizen to fight these idiots. Last night I was despondent, the plight of Connaught PLC workers had really upset me. This morning I look at it with fresh eyes. Look at what we've achieved. The Tory leadership caved in to public protests, lead by this blog against the Cabinet allowance rises. It may in some ways only be symbolic, but the architect of this misery isn't getting a pay rise. Now down to work.

Councillor Robert Rams believes that flogging off the Librarys of Barnet and making everyone order books online and pick them up at Tescos or Starbucks is a marvellous idea and that the people of Barnet will love him for this. I happen to believe that it is the most stupid idea imaginable. I suspect that when he implements his silly plan, many of his Tory Council colleagues will be thrown out by the electorate. Whilst this would be a marvellous thing for people like me who think they've had it coming, it would be a terrible thing for the children, pensioners and everyone else in Barnet.

I have decided to save Robert Rams from himself and persuade him of the error of his ways. For many of us, books are a vital part of our lives. It is absolutely clear to me that Councillor Rams needs to be educated. I am asking everyone in Barnet to bring a book for Councillor Robert Rams to a street stall I will be running between 10am and noon in Mill Hill Broadway on Saturday 25th September (provisional date). We will then deliver these books to Councillor Rams at the next cabinet meeting at Hendon Town Hall. I ask everyone who cares about the Library service in Barnet to please come along and show some support.

Barnet Tory Councillors - Beyiond redemption

At this time of deep recession, public spending cuts and austerity, the Leader of Barnet Council tried to give herself a 54% increase in pay. Only a massive campaign by the public and press forced her to shelve the proposal (although she kept rises for her committee chiefs as a sweetner). Last week 18 Tory councillors voted against her in a leadership challenge, instigated by the public campaign.

Last night, these councillors had the chance to remove her, via a vote of no confidence. She would have been replaced by another Conservative, so any hint that this was disloyal was completely ridiculous. What happened. All 39 Tory councillors voted for her. Not a single one against.

What does this tell us? That they are rotten to the core and need to be replaced

Barnet Eye Exclusive : Brian Coleman sacked !

News reaches us that the deal to get errant Tory Councillors last night was as simple as this. They have sacked Brian Coleman as chief whip and replaced him with John Marshall. Details to be announced. More to follow. I suppose this counts as a result

Hillans Loyal Tories get their butts whipped and lose their political virginty

Lynne Hillans favourite blog - The London Daily News reports that ALL 39 TORY COUNCILLORS backed Lynne Hillan in the confidence vote. Mrs Angry reports that the Labour group called a division, which meant all of their names were read out, to sheer public derision. No wonder they only wanted 25 members of the public to attend.

Well, you've read their emails here. You've followed the story. Ask yourself this. All 39 Barnet Tory Councillors have PUBLICLY BACKED Lynne Hillan in a vote of confidence. In their judgement, they are happy to be named as believing she is the best person to lead the group through these troubled times.

18 of them voted against her last week in a secret ballot. What does this tell you about our Barnet Conservative Councillors. It tells me the following about our gentlemen councillors.

a) They have no balls
b) They have no balls

and finally, and by far the most important

c) They have no balls.

It strikes me that so far, the only two Barnet Tories who have displayed the slightest amount of testicular matter are dear old Lynne Hillan and "Saint Catherine of Salinger". I can almost imagine Lynne Hillan lifting up her skirt and screaming at the backsliders "I bet you wish you had a pair of these" - it clearly had the desired effect, whatever she did.

Do you think that before you can become a male Barnet Tory Councillor, you have to have a medical exam and if they find any evidence of testicles, you don't get selected. I suppose it explains why Councillor Robert Rams (the man who wants to abolish Barnets Libraries and replace them with Starbucks and Tescos ) has such a squeaky voice, which reduced the public gallery to hysterics last week, when he answered "known trade unionist Vicky Morris" question about asset stripping.

My advice to all of our local Tory gentlemen who voted for Shooter last week and for Hillan this week. Go and have a long hard look in the mirror. What do you see staring back at you? That is what we all see. A self serving coward. You know that you had an opportunity to put Barnet back on track and you bottled it. I trust you are prepared for the public backlash which awaits you. Your credibility is like you virginity. Once it's gone it's gone forever.

Chaos in the Banana republic of Barnet

The people of Barnet showed Lynne Hillans Tories what they thought of them, their library cuts and their troughing. Outside the town hall, hundreds of people gathered (including sheltered housing residents in wheelchairs) for a mass lobby as the council meeting started.

Lynne Hillan, having knobbled the opposition had hoped for a good news story about how the private sector has saved the jobs of sacjed Connaught workers. She hoped to get off the hook, as her easycouncil project is unravelling to mass public opposition and the failure of council contractors.

The Hendon Times jumped the gun and printed this

http://www.times-series.co.uk/news/topstories/8391260.New_contractor_appointed_to_service_council_homes/

Sadly it appears the story is wrong. KPMG sent an email to Connaught workers saying they were still sacked this evening. It  must be concluded that the deal hasn't been done and the workers are still unemployed and the residents still high and dry.

News also reaches the blog that up to 20 childrens centres have been earmarked for closure in Barnet.

As to the Council meeting. Bloggers don't count as press, so they wouldn't let me in. The numbers were restricted to 25 and I wasn't one of the chosen few. I've had a few texts from friends inside.

"Shameful", "They all bottled out", "A damp squib" "No Nuts". Basically, as predicted here, a deal has been done. I have some details of it, but I'm awaiting proper confirmation. It is clear Hillan has yet again survived. It seems even more of them bottled it than I thought.

So this is the reality of Barnet. Workers get sacked, failed Council leaders don't. As ever Barnets Tories put their own well being before everything. Last Tuesday 18 of them voted against Lynne Hillan. This Tuesday they voted to save their jobs and their perks. Perhaps the only surprising thing is that anyone ever thought anything else would happen.

In some ways though, you have to admire Hillan. Like all good Captains she's staying at the helm of the sinking ships. I just find it odd that the crew are urging her on towards the Iceberg. I suppose that Lynne Hillan will claim she's won another famous victory. The word on the street is that Harper is letting her do her worst before he finally sticks the knife in and finishes her off. He wants the worst of the cuts to have been announced before he steps in to save the council.

Mind you, I'm rather pleased for Alison Moore, Leader of the Labour Group. She couldn't have wished for a better result. Sadly in all of this who pays - the workers. That's why I feel utterly dejected.

Message to Lynne Hillan - Your colleagues may lack the nuts to finish off your leadership, the people of Barnet are a completely different proposition

The big Brian Coleman conspiracy

VickiM57 got a great scoop today - the letter Brian Coleman sent to Brian Schama in response to his private letter to Coleman. As you can see, Coleman copied the world in on his response (well the Barnet Tory world), including Schama's private comments. Here's what Coleman said, for those who haven't seen  Vicki's blog
--------------
From: Coleman, Cllr Brian Conservative
Sent: 10 September 2010 19:07
To: BSchama@aol.com
Cc: Prentice, Cllr Wendy Conservative; Hillan, Cllr Lynne Conservative; Harper, Cllr Andrew Conservative; Scannell, Cllr Joan Conservative; Rayner, Cllr Hugh Conservative; Cohen, Cllr Melvin Conservative
Subject: RE: Council Meeting September 14th. Agenda Item: 3.6

In view of the contents of this e mail , which I assume is notification that you cannot support a vote of Confidence in our Administration despite the result of the ballot at the Group I assume this means that you have resigned the Conservative Whip

As I am sure you will appreciate this is a serious matter and I ask you to reflect as of course if you intend to sit as an Independent appropriate arrangements will have to be made

Kind regards

-----
So who benefits from this being leaked? Well it sends a strong message to all of those lilley livered Tory Barnet wets who were thinking of voting against Hillan. Who could have leaked it? Why to Vicki's blog?  A conspiracy theorist might say "Well who wants to send a message via a leaked email to a blog, but hates Don't Call Me Dave, Dan Hope and Rog T and wouldn't want to give them a scoop? I can't think of such a person in Barnet.

You know us bloggers in Barnet are really quite competetive and it makes me wonder who I could have upset recently enough to send such a scoop to a "well known Trades Unionist". I clearly have been buttering up the wrong people with my offers of free pot noodles.

Reports reach me that Brian Coleman has been looking rather happy all day. Maybe he's won £10 on the lottery.

On a serious note - the main thing is we can now see exactly how Coleman operates. Schama sends a private email to him and Coleman tries to destroy him. If Coleman was really intererested in doing his job, he'd have nipped round to see Schama and explained the need for group unity at this time and told him to develop a headache on the night (a La Brian Salinger) if he really couldn't support Hillan. As it is he's guaranteed that Brian Schama has to vote against Hillan and suffer the consequences. Really quite nasty, but just about par for the course. Coleman knew this when he copied the rest of the group, he knew that it would all make it's way into the public domain.

One other thing I noticed. Whoever sent Vicki the email didn't mask Schama's private email, whereas whoever sent me Brians original email did. Any clue there?
