I am sorry if this upsets anyone. But sometimes you have to tell the truth. In this country, when something terrible happens, the stock response is for the government to launch a public enquiry. The reason is not to secure justice, as the guilty never go to prison. The reason is to bat difficult problems into the long grass, so by the time the report is published, public anger has died down.
The latest public inquiry to be launched is the 'grooming gangs' inquiry. This is an even bigger waste of money than most. Why? Because it is crystal clear what is wrong and what should be done. You will no doubt say "Come on then clever clogs, what is your magic solution". Here it is.
1. The Home Secretary must immediately instruct the Police to enforce the law and investigate and charge every case where there are sexual offences against minors.
2. The Attourney General must instruct the CPS that there is no public interest consideration that overrides the right of young children to be safe and all sexual offences against children should be prosecuted, where there is sufficient evidence.
3. The Houses of Parliamant should clear space and pass a law making the facilitation of child abuse a criminal offence, punishable by a long prison term. If the CPS can lock up people for shouting slogans about Palestine, they can lock up the people who facilitate nonces. who am I referring to? The people who adminster schools, religious orders, childrens groups, etc who are aware of child abuse and cover it up. I would give all such organisations a six month window to open the books and give the Police the evidence. Anyone not complying would then be subject to criminal proceedings.
4. Build new prisons for child abusers and their facilitators in remote locations. A message must be sent that if you destroy a childs innocence, you will be excluded from society.
I am of the opinion that right wing Tories, many of whom have jumped ship to Reform are as culpable, if not more so than the current Labour government. The Tories were in power from 2010 until 2024 and a succession of Tory Home secretaries and Attourney Generals had the opportunity to do all of these things. It has been going on for years, if not decades.
The harsh truth is that having sex with minors is and always has been illegal. There is no earthly reason why this should not have been investigated and perpetraors prosecuted. Anyone who has colluded in this abregation of responsibility, should, in my opinion share the culpability and I also believe that they are unfit for public office. There are 650 MP's in Parliament. Every single one of them is more than capable of reporting the Police to the IPCC if they don't investigate child abuse and also putting pressure on the the Attourney General to enforce the law in the courts. What does it tell you that there has not been a private members bill to do just that, long ago.
In my opinion, all that one can conclude is that we've elected a complete shower of shite for decades. Spineless, gutless MP's. I would urge every single reader of this blog to cut and paste this blog into an email to your MP and ask then what they are going to do about and what they have to say for themselves.
As far as I am concerned, every child in the UK has the right to be free from the fear of sex abuse and every sexual predator should know that they will get caught and they will spend a very long time in prison. I don't care what colour their skin is, what faith or denomination they belong to, whether they are 'pillars of the community with previously unblemished records', Lock them up.
