The wit of Barnet Councillor Daniel "Imber" Seal

Earlier today we reported how Barnet Tory Councillor Daniel "Imber" Seal was upset to have a pothole named after him. We accused him of lacking a sense of humour. It seems I was wrong. Councillor Imber does a great line in jokes slagging off scousers on his Twitter feed. What an amusing chap he is !

Another Barnet Councillor caught being rude to his constituents - Councillor Daniel Seal exposed

Last week we had Barnet Councillor Brian Coleman being exposed for being rude to a single mum. Sharada Osman contacted Coleman to ask for advice on her problems with accomodation. Coleman who earns £120,000 a year and yet lives in a charity flat, on a rent subsidised by the Methodist Church, designed for poor families, told her to "live in the real world".

It seems he's not the only Barnet Tory upsetting his voters. This story from the Ham and High, tells how Hampstead Garden Suburb resident Saul Zadka contacted his local councillor Danny "Imber" Seal and asked him to inspect some local potholes, which had been left for months.

http://www.hamhigh.co.uk/news/councillor_takes_offence_at_being_named_after_pothole_1_700890

Despite originally agreeing to meet Zadka for a coffee, Imber renaged on the agreement and didn't bother getting back in touch. Mr Zadka then rather humourously suggested that he'd named the pot hole after Councillor Seal.

Sadly for Mr Zadka, as well as being completely useless as a councillor, Imber also completely lacks a sense of humour. Imber told the Ham and High
"The reason I did not have coffee with him is because he was very rude to me".
All I can say is that if the worst thing anyone has ever said to Mr Seal is that they've named a pot hole after him, he really has lead a very sheltered life. Maybe he should follow his colleague Brian Coleman's advice and "live in the real world".

Readers may also be interested to know that Imber has a Twitter account and he was very excited to get his 300th follower :-

I'd urge all Barnet Eye readers to follow Imber ASAP, otherwise you'll be missing out on pearls of wisdom such as this :-

Sadly I'm not one of the 300 as Imber has blocked me, presumably in yet another sense of humour failure. I do so miss his brilliance !

BARNETEYE TV - Live from Hendon Town Hall - Comedy moments from our local Tory Councillors

As it's Saturday, here's a few out takes from our Barnet Council meeting on the 13th. There are marvellous examples of the crass stupidity from Councillor Danny "Imber" Seal and Councillor Dim Thomas. Seal asks Thomas if he thinks it's marvellous that 20% of Council spending is "non compliant" (ie out of control). Thomas replies that yes, it's marvellous because a few other councils are even worse. He then says  it shows that Barnet is a "High performing Council". Of course I had to translate into plain English, but that is exactly what he says. Clearly Thomas gave Seal a sweetie for his "Patsy" question.

Then we have some true comedy, as the Barnet Town Hall ghost decides he's had quite enough of Councillor Bwian Coleman and knobbles his microphone. Fortunately Councillor Wobert Wamsbottom wides in to wescue him. Coleman then goes on to blame everyone else for the appalling state of Barnet's road, which he's in charge of. It's all the fault of parents & utility companies and nothing to do with him.

Enjoy !!!!

BarneteyeTV - These are the people running the Council - Council meeting 13/9/2011

For those of you who want to know why at times this blog is rather, shall we say, impatient with our councillors, please have a look at this Barneteye TV broadcast. We have four answers to ordinary Councillors from Council cabinet members (a cabinet member gets a big extra wad of dosh and makes decisions, which the sheep then rubber stamp.

There are 4 questions & answers. Here's a brief description of what happens.

Q1. Labour Councillor Barry Rawlings asks a question about transfer of community assets. He asks a perfectly reasonable question on behalf of a community group. Tory Cabinet member Councillor Robert Rams summarily dismisses Rawlings & the Taxpayers he was asking on behalf of in a most rude fashion.

Q2. Just to show that it isn't only Labour Councillors who get patronised. Here is Tory Councillor John Hart, who has for many years been involved with the allotment associations and is an old school Tory Councillor (so old school that he can't operate the microphone).  He asks about the allotments which don't want to go into Self Management. Tory Cabinet member Brian Coleman explains his plans to ride roughshod over the wishes of these Barnet Taxpayers. Coleman explains how that any allotment holders who don't want self management will be forced to, because he knows best.

Q3. Labour Councillor Geoff Johnson asks for a clarification on the issue of a review of parking charges, following contradictory answers from various cabinet members. At this Tory Cabinet member and Councillor Tom Davey calls Councillor Johnson a liar. Uproar ensues, with people exclaiming they heard the contradictory answers at the sub commitee last night. Councillor Brian Coleman says no review will take place. An affronted Johnson says "I'm not a liar, I take umbrage at that" . The Mayor insists that Davey withdraw the accusation of lying. Davey, like a rather irritating teachers pet says "I believe Councillor Cook (???) is mistaken with the truth". Most revolting of all is the smug way Tory Councillor Hugh Rayner turns around and laughs at Councillor Johnson as Davey says his piece. Shameful (I am glad I video'd this so you can see this moment).

Q4. Labour Councillor Alison Moore asks what is done to ensure that when the private sector takes over a service, they also take over responsibility for the risk. Tory Cabinet member Councillor Daniel Thomas replies that "in this instance it is part of the contractual arrangements that the risk gets passed back to the Council". In other words, the private sector takes the profits but not the risk. This is why One Barnet has become such a toxic brand.

So having watched the clip, what do you think. Are these highly paid cabinet members providing a decent public service. Is this what you voted for? Is this how you thought these people represented you.

When you hear that when services are outsourced to contractors, the council keeps the financial risks, do you think this is a good way to run the council? There were dozens of other questions. These are just a few. In virtually all of them the pattern was the same, apart from a few patsy planted questions from Tory brown nosers such as Daniel "Imber" Seal.

I could say so much about why I think these people are failing us, but I'm sure if you've watched the video, I don't have to, do I. This is why it is vital we record these meetings.

Allowancegate : We name the guilty MEN of Barnet

As promised, we are looking more closely at the press coverage of the Allowancegate Scandal in this weeks Barnet Press newspaper. At the last Council election in May, the people of Barnet Elected 11 new Tory Councillors. Rather strangely for a party in the year 2010, all of these Councillors were male (can't the Tories replace high Calibre women who've left such as Fiona Bulmer and Jane Ellison). They all shared one other feature. None of them possess a backbone. Apart from the Salingers, who publicly disassociated themselves from the rise, all of the Tory Councillors share some guilt for this awful decision, but these 11 hold a special share of the blame. Why? because there are eleven of them with no baggage. Of all the councillors, this group should be most in touch with the man in the street (although as not a single girlie amongst them, clearly not the women of Barnet). They should be at the stage of learning the ropes, getting their feet under the desk.

So why did they vote for the rise? Well we'll never know because the lilley livered chickens won't tell us.As the press reports, they were all unavailable for comment. That says it all. You may say that these guys couldn't have changed anything. Well that is untrue. If they had have voted with the opposition, the motion would have fallen.

Their names are there, along with their pictures - the Guilty men. They veer from the risible Graham Old "Kate Salinger is my hero, but I'm too cowardly to actually back her" to the conniving Barry Evangeli "Well if she's going to make a stand, I'll 'ave 'er job". My special favourite at the moment is Daniel "Imber" Seal. Apparently good old "Imber" was asked about it recently. His response "If we didn't give people like Lynne Hillan a decent wage, they'd leave and get  a better job somewhere else".

Well my Dear Imber, pray tell. Where is this better job. She's been at the council for how many years on far less money???? Has she left for a better job ???? We all know about the last better job she had. She was the managing Director of Ashurst Direct Marketing Ltd. My Dearest Imber, do you know what happened next? Well Ashurst Direct Marketing Ltd went bust owing it's creditors a small fortune. So my Dearest "Imber", here's an offer. Why don't you write a guest blog explaining what Talent Councillor Lynne Hillan brings to the Council to justify her allowance. Tell us why, if you ran a company (as I do) you'd employ Hillan. As ever guest blog rules apply. No editing and no comment on the blog from me. Prove to the people of Barnet that you are not quite as dumb  (literally) as you make out.

My thanks to the Barnet Press for their valuable role in the war against these spongers. Thanks to their article, everyone in the Borough now knows who these lackies are, what they look like and just how completely gutless they really are.
