Last blog of the week.

Thanks to the anonymous emailer who asked if I've got nothing better to do than sit around writing blogs moaning about the Council (amongst other things).

This was a fairly typical week. In 2 weeks when we're doing the festival, it will be bonkers - check the program, we've got some great bands. I'll be featuring details next week - www.millhillmusicfest.co.uk

Oh and by the way, I'll be plugging it shamelessly here. My Band the False Dots are playing on Friday 26th June as part of the festival at The Mill Hill Sports Club, Graham Park Way. It'll be your chance to see if I'm really as handsome as I pretend !

Oh and as you asked, I'd much rather be doing something else (See above picture). I enjoy everything else on the above list. I hate writing about the Sheltered Housing Warden issue. It makes me feel physically sick. It's just that, to quote the old saying "All it takes for the success of Evil, is for good men to do nothing" I can't do much, but with my limited time I can write this blog & hopefully inspire a few of you do something as well.

One other thing, if I didn't get the odd crank email or nasty comment, I'd probably not be doing a very good job, would I?

Is that really the best way to a high fibre diet, Rog?

I saw the False Dots recently. A band my friend is in was supposed to play at a pub in Kentish Town, but they cancelled and so the group stood in at the last minute as a favour.

I went to introduce myself to you as you've been paranoid about who I am. I asked if you were around and they laughed. One said that they hadn't seen you in decades. I said you (Rog) were still in the band, and they laughed again.

One of them said your band was the "official" False Dots, but that they were the "Provisional" False Dots.

They played a rough but storming set, including a few covers (Heartbreakers I wanna be Loved, something by the Clash can't remember what, and a really fast version of Sister Ray.

Really nice people too. You should get them at the festival!

Pat,

Your comment gave me the best laugh of the week. The provisional wing of the False Dots?

Bit puzzled about the selection of songs you mention as we never did more than 1 cover in the set for such gigs? Did they do "Bone", "Pusherman" or "The Mill Hill Song"? Believe me, you'd remember them.

Mind you, good to hear that the Provo's did were a good band. I thought all the ex members I'd lost touch with were either dead, in rehab or members of bizarre cults these days.

I trust you'll be down on the 26th to see if the Offo's are as good as the provo's?

Best original song they did was "Uncle Charlies Dead". I can't really remember others.

A fine song indeed !

I think my old band (Size Paranoia) played on a bill with the False Dots at the Kings Head, Crouch End, on Sat 19 Dec, 1983. Do you remember this gig?

Hi Andy,

As I recall that was a gig for Barnet College? We had Dave Peter's depping on guitar and the superb Venessa Sagoe on vocals. I remember the name Size Paranoia, cool name. Seem to recall you were a nice bunch of guys. Did some of you come down to Dingwalls a few weeks later?

I seem to recall it being a pretty cool gig, but I was stoned all the time then so they all seemed pretty cool :^)

Yes, it was a Barnet College gig - one of our mates was the social secretary. Can't remember too much about FD, except that you were much more proficient than us - was there a bit of a reggae influence in there, or am I confusing you with another band? And did you have quite a young kid playing sax? We may well have come down to Dingwalls, but the memory is hazy.

I'm well impressed that not only one, but two versions of the False Dots are still going!
