Lights out - Mill Hill Churches WWI commemoration service tonight at 10pm

Mill Hill Churches are holding a "Lights Out" commemoration of the start of World War 1 at 10pm tonight at the Sacred Heart Church in Mill Hill. All are invited, it is a chance to quietly recollect this terrible, tragic war and the sacrifice of our family members who were involved in the conflict. It is also a chance for us to pray for an end to all such conflicts and that the human family can come together in peace and brotherhood.

My grandfather was a conscripted soldier and was severely damaged by his experiences. He died aged 68 in 1946 as a result of the long term effects of being gassed. My Grandmother said he was never the same after the war and lost his joy for life. It was called the war to end all wars. Sadly it was nothing of the sort
