The Saturday List #220 - Mill Hill's Music venues in 2019!

In less than two weeks, we see the start of the Mill Hill Music Festival. In Mill Hill we are blessed with some truly amazing places to listen to music. Part one of this list is the ones we are using for the Mill Hill Music Festival this year. Part two are venues that have been used in the past for the festival.


1. Hartley Hall
This has become the spiritual home of the festival and is a great space for a concert. We have four concerts there this year.

14th June - The Hendon Band of the Salvation Army
15th June - The BBC Elstree Concert Band - A night at the Oscars (Film Music)
18th June - Charles Court Opera - Gilbert and Sullivans HMS Pinnafore
20th June - The Alan Barnes Octet (Jazz)

2. The Mill Hill Golf Club
This hosts the weekly Mill Hill Jazz club and all sorts of other great concerts. This yeaar we have two festival events at the Golf Club.

Weds 19th - Jimmy Cannon and Elizabeth Tillotson (Jazz)
Fri 20th - The Foundations and Recollection (Soul/Pop)

3. The Adam and Eve Pub
This hosts regular music and comedy events. This year there are three concerts at the venue for the festival.
14th June - The Ron Lewis Partnership (Rhythm and Blues)
16th June - Dixieland Jazz Lunch

4. St Pauls Church.
This is an amazing venue for classical music. We have one event this year
19th June  - Organ and Harp recital

Other venues that have staged music events

5. John Keeble Church
Has a large hall and has also held events in the church

6. The Rising Sun
Has had Jazz gigs etc on patio and in car park

7. The Bridge.
Has occasional duo type gigs etc

8. The Railway Tavern
Has occasional gigs, mostly duo's etc

9. Mill Hill School
Has an excellent theatre and other spaces.

10. Belmont School
Mill Hill Festival has staged gigs in the dining hall.

11. Harwood Hall
Space above the Union Church on the Broadway. Great space for music events.

12. Saracens
There are some excellent spaces for concerts at Saracens. The Mill Hill Music Festival participated in the opening events.

13. The Town Square Mill Hill
There have been open air gigs in the 'Town Square' area of Mill Hill Broadway, located at the junction of Brockenhurst Gardens and The Broadway. This was paved last year by Barnet Council and a power supply has been installed, to facilitate future events.

14. The Mill Hill Rugby Club
This is a great venue. For several years it held a Summer Rock festival called 'Metalbrew', as well as hosting a Paul Young gig. There are also reasonably regular gigs in the club. The Barnet Eye held our annual awards there last year.
