The Tweets of the week in the London Borough of Barnet - 20th March 2022

If you've not read this item before, I always start with a litte round up of my week, if anythin g exciting has happened, then give you the pick of the best tweets I've seen during the week. If you see a great tweet please tag me. I don't do politicians holding leaflets or overtly political tweets, although I do sometimes highlight problems that Barnet Council should be dealing with and do feature tweets  by councillors if they are non politcal. If you want to appear, it must be related in some way to the Borough of Barnet. I prefer tweets with great pictures and if they make me laugh or feature sporting or music history they are ones I particularly like. I always try and picka  couple of dates for the diary as well. I try and feature all corners of the Borough, but that is not always possible. And although I know terrible things are happening in the world, we do sometimes need relief from it. 

I've had a wonderful week. Saw a brilliant game of football at Hadley on Tuesday, had a great band rehearsal on Wednesday, enjoyed five a side on Thursday (and had a nice chicken vindaloo from the Mill Hill Tandoori after), had a quiet night on Friday, as we were getting up at 5am to have a belated (by two years) celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. For this we took a luxury vintage train to Chester for the day. It was a beautiful day, we walked the city walls and visited the Cathedral, which is wonderful. Thoroughly recommended, got back for the St Patricks day bash at the Mill Hill Services club,  Here's our pics of Chester.


But that's enough of my week, how was your week? This is what our local tweeters have been up to

1. Lets start in Burnt Oak with a date for your diary. Not everything Barnet Council does I disagree with, this is great work


2. Sadly there are other things they are not doing quite as well

The Tweets of The Week in The London Borough of Barnet - 12/03/2017

Some weeks it is easy to put this together. The only issue is what to leave out. Seems like quite a lot going on in our little neck of the woods. Make sure to follow any tweeters who tickle your fancy!


1. We kick off with one of our friends, who is none to happy with the state of disrepair of Hendon Park.

2. Looks like someone is loving their job. Be warned if you are speeding in Burnt Oak!
3. If a bit of folk in Colindale tickles your fancy (or anything else) check out the Colindale folk club!
4. Nice to see the Council appreciate residents when they do their job for them!
5. "It's like the wild west up there in High Barnet!"
6. Regular readers will know, we love a bit of local history tweeting. This is top notch!
7. The most famous baker in the Borough is taunting us with his chicken and chorizo pasties. It doesn't help that we've given up meat for lent!
8. Barnet Rebel is feeling frisky as spring is here!
9. Another bit of interesting local historic tweeting!

10. And finally! The bi-annual Mill Hill Music Festival has announced its programme for June and it is a cracker! Do make sure you check it out

Tweets of the week in the London Borough of Barnet - 05/03/17

A few things of note and interest this week! Sometimes this is quite an easy blog to write!

1. Seems like the Save London Diving campaign has got an  Absolutely Fabulous patron! (Pardon the pun)

2. We had BAFTA award winning director Ken Loach at The Phoenix for a showing of I,Daniel Blake and a Q&A with Paula Peters from DPAC and Aditia Chakrabortty from The Guardian, organised by Local UNISON rep John Burgess
3. On a much sadder note, we lost a local community stalwart in tragic circumstances

4. Regular readers will know we've been looking at local cinemas this week. As ever the Phoenix is making people happy!
5. We had a bomb in the locality. Just like Hitler, it failed to cow us!
6. Sadly the fiasco of the Railway in Edgware just goes on and gets worse!
7. We do like our old maps!
