Mosaic “Peace Tree” Competition for London Borough of Barnet Community - Guest blog by Linda Edwards

 By Linda Edwards

Larches Community, celebrating 20 years of service to people with learning disabilities and/or autism in the Borough of Barnet, has created a spectacular mosaic “Peace Tree”.

Through a series of workshops where people of all faiths, all abilities and across generations and ethnicities have designed and created the most amazing mosaic ‘Peace Tree’ for public installation somewhere in London Borough of Barnet.   “This has been a unique and innovative approach to building community cohesion” Linda Edwards CEO Larches Community.

Participants learnt the techniques of mosaics and made symbolic fruit, flowers, animals, birds and flowers that have been assembled around a spectacular ‘Peace Tree”. “The design of the mosaic specifically mixed colour and shape together to identify how diversity can be combined into a cohesive whole.” said Naomi Selig, mosaic artist facilitating the workshops.

We are offering the ‘Peace Tree’ mosaic (4 metres wide and 1.5 metres high) to an organisation, business or similar in London Borough of Barnet for a period of up to 18 months.

To have the opportunity to showcase this magnificent piece of art, please write one paragraph how the community of London Borough of Barnet would benefit from your business/organisation by showcasing our ‘Peace Tree’ mosaic and send to:
Subject ‘Mosaic Community Competition’

With best wishes
