Career Advice for Senior Barnet Council Officers

If you have a senior job at Barnet Council associated with provision of Sheltered accomodation, I suggest you have a good look at this letter. Click on it to enlarge it.

This letter could have a major impact on your future career prospects. I've just posted the first page. I suggest you get to look at the rest of it. It was handed to the council tonight. It really be well worth your while.

The thing is, that when this happens, you may find it rather hard to find future employment. Barnet Council under leader Mike Freer and head of social provision, Councillor Richard Cornelius have made a highly political decision. They have made it in the face of public opinion. They've chosen to ignore the results of the consultation exercises. They are placing people at risk. They are causing stress to hundreds of senior citizens.

Ask yourself this what you started working in social services for? If I were you, I'd start looking for another job now, while your still employable. A judicial review is not good on the CV.

Check this site - http://jobs.guardian.co.uk/ - Oh and if there are any headhunters out there looking for a few decent staff, I'd try a few numbers at Barnet. If they are any good and they know their stuff, they'll be more than happy to have a chat.

Oh and I'd suggest you have a look here. The BBC are taking an interest in the story.

And here's what the residents have to say

The council's conduct is not simply shameful. It is wicked. This was an ill conceived idea from the start and, rather than accepting that they have made a mistake, Mike Freer is ploughing on.

The irony will not be lost on the public that Cllr Freer, who wasted public money developing a website called The Leader Listens, is not willing to do what it says on the tin.

His dogged refusal to countenance an alternative opinion is strikingly similar to the megalomaniacal tendencies and bunker mentality of Gordon Brown.
