We are very close to reaching our target of 7000 signatures. Please could you take the time to spread the word, sign up and ask your friends, neighbours and community to help us reach our goal.

But what good would signing the petition do?

It would give the decision to close the library another hearing at the place where this type of decision is made, yes that's right, at council meetings. They (Our local councillors) hold the key to this decision and we hope by reaching our goal of 7000, it would give us an opportunity to have a debate with a hope that it would change the vote to re-open our library.

And there's more, it  would also give us the chance to question the Council's plans following the cancellation of the Landmark Library project in the Arts depot in North Finchley - The closure of FBL being mitigated by a new landmark library in the Artsdepot. As the temporary facility has now been closed and no definite plans have been announced, we could then ask where does that leave the library users of Friern Barnet ?

For details to link the petition please visit our website here

Come along and join the community meeting tonight at 7pm and then hear about a trek to Everest tonight at 8pm in the library.

And please make a note of National Libraries Day on 9th February.

PS -  If you want a Whopper do you go to Burger King or Ramsgate? Seems like someone may have  been slightly  "economical with the truth" in his blog  - http://robertrams.wordpress.com/2013/01/08/freirn-barnet-library-press-release/ - Imagine my complete surprise that such a thing should happen.
