Guest Blog - Barnet Council ruin Mill Hill Park Open day by Wayward Tony

By Wayward Tony,

Mill Hill Park has open day to celebrate new children’s play area Smile

Beautiful Sunny day and event is extremely popular Smile

So popular that not enough parking spaces so cars are parked on the grass in front of our houses Confused smile

Barnet council take immediate action to assist and send a parking warden who manages to swell the Council’s coffers by £2,000 (or £4,000 if fines not paid within 14 days!)

Kerrchinnngggggg  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They all p*ss in the same pot. Here in Redbridge they charge for street parking, off-street parking, parking in parks, parking at libraries, parking at Hainault Forest, parking at two "country parks", parking at the town hall after 7.00 pm Monday to Friday and any time on Saturday and Sunday. The town hall is right opposite the local theatre - whose cash grant has been cut by the council.

They tried last year to impose a 7 days a week regime from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm, and to extend the number of small local shopping parades with parking restrictions - so that they too would be pay & display. They forgot, however, to amend the traffic order in respect of yellow lines so that on Sunday you had to pay to park outside Iceland, but could park legally for free on the yellow line the opposite side of the road obstructing a left-hand turn lane. It had to be abandoned, of course - about as competent as the Post Office.
