The Guardian disses twat boy Robert Rams and future shape

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/sep/23/barnet-easycouncil-costcutting-plan-criticised

Quote of the day from the Guardian -
Mike Freer, the former council leader who championed the reform, has since been elected to parliament and the leadership of the project passed to Rams, a less senior figure. Labour believes this may indicate a lack of belief in a project.
The Barnet Eye concurs  - Don't forget to vote in the poll - today is the final day. It seems that the Guardian, having read all the evidence has concurred with The Barnet Eye on the abilities of Robert Rams and the value of Future Shape.

The Guardian also mentions the plan to sell off the Boroughs Librarys (another of Twatboys masterplans) - If you don't want to see this happen, visit us tomorrow (Saturday) on Mill Hill Broadway between 10am and noon. Here is the second quote of the day
The council is considering closing some of its 16 libraries and relocating them with other services. A council paper this month discussed selling off libraries, because like allotments and sports clubs, they are now a "lifestyle choice" and said there is "a genuine case with safeguards to make disposals". The paper admits such a sell-off would invite "public opprobrium".

This madness can be stopped, by a concerted community campaign. It won't be easy and it will take work. The important thing is that is we fight this idiocy every inch of the way and that we name and shame those who champion it.

Dear Rog,
Thank you so much for standing up for our libraries-the jewel in the crown of our treasured public services. Every child who grew up in this Borough from the thirties to the eighties owes a massive debt to Eileen Colwell and Hendon Library for their literacy skills. Thank goodness we have a fantastic bunch of librarians carrying on her legacy with rhyme and story times etc. - there are even some working with more mature 'children'and helping with IT literacy!
We cannot afford to see another piece of the family silver sold off in this Borough.
And thanks for setting up your campaign against the back drop of the money wasted on proping up 'The Future Pear Shape' or 'Barnet 1 Residents 0' or whatever they've re-branded it as now. Without you we'd probably never know.
Scrap the consultants - keep our libraries!
Ram it up 'em Rog!

Rams calls libraries a "lifestyle choice", and so they can go.

The public says overwhelmingly that they must be protected from people like him.

He would like all of the council's functions to be run by a meeting in a Starbucks cafe once a year, when the last two directly-employed Barnet employees (and a dog) would hand out all the contracts to run services for the following year. That is his idea of a 'local authority'.

I second that. In Barnet we have had always had a first class library service, and I've had a ticket since I was a four year old. In those days you were only able to borrow three books a week, and I would always have read mine by Sunday evening, and have to wait impatiently until the next Saturday when I could borrow more. This routine instilled in me a great love of reading and taught me the immense value of the public library system. The libraries of Barnet are there to inform, entertain and educate, they provide a vital service and are not, as some would have it, some sort of optional leisure facility. Not everyone is a wealthy Tory councillor who can nip down to Waterstone's for reading material, or access information on a lap top. Again, proposals by this administration are most likely to affect those who are the most disadvantaged. Public libraries were built in order to extend education and information to ordinary individuals and families. Don't let's take things for granted: if you want to keep your local library, make sure your voice is heard when they start deciding which ones they want to shut. In fact, if you have a library ticket, why not use it this weekend: if not go and join up? Use it, or lose it.

How pathetic you are Rog to resort to calling someone names... how very becoming and mature....

"Amanda" (Yes we do know, but lets play anyway).

I was tempted to give you a glib answer, but have decided to give you a serious one instead.

Respect is earned as is lack of respect. Rams, Coleman, Freer, Hillan et all have shown the voters of Barnet no respect whatsoever. They have a history of lies, distortions, insults (remember Freer's one handed bloggers insult and the deeply offensive personal insult to me after my mother died).

The purpose of this blog is to draw attention to the failings of idiots such as Robert Rams so that they get the sack. This is not a personal issue, but so they cannot inflict the damage they would like to on the hard working people of Barnet who are not spongers and parasites, but are taxpayers.

If inflammatory headlines and polls asking if Robert Rams is a twat help get the message across (which my traffic stats prove), then that is a good thing.

If Mr Rams wishes to not be called a twat, he should stop behaving like one. The readers of this blog had the opportunity to tell me I'm wrong. They didn't they agree with me.

Unlike the rigged consultations conducted by Barnet Council, where it is virtually impossible to disagree with any of the questions, the Rams poll was simple, fair, open and honest.

It is clear to me from the stats that many people who voted No to the question arrived via his Twitter account (as did quite a few who said yes).

Robert Rams has boasted that he's the 37th most influential Jewish person under 40 in Great Britain. Sadly he can't mobilise this influence to persuade us that he's not the biggest twat in Barnet in this poll.

This country has a proud history of deriding idiots. Read Shakespear if you don't believe me (oh I forgot, Barnet Tories don't do books).

As to whether I'm pathetic or immature, that is for others to judge. The response I get from people tells me that they are rather pleased that I stand up so stridently for their services in the face of truly obnoxious and greedy people who see the council as a personal gravy train.

If people I respect told me I was "pathetic and immature" I would probably listen. As it is faceless people who hide behind anonymous blog id's, too scared to even engage in honest and open dialog can call me anything they like.

If you want to see Pathetic and immature comments, have a look at those by Brian Coleman about last nights trade council meeting.
